Robert S. Wang, the U.S. Senior Official for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) at the U.S. State Department visited Taiwan from May 11-17 to discuss this year's APEC agenda as well as other economic issues of concern with Taiwanese economic and trade officials. The trip was Wang's fourth such visit to Taiwan since he attained his current position in August 2013.
During the trip, Wang delivered the keynote address at the "Next Generation Power in Asia" energy conference, organized by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Bureau of Energy in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The conference was dedicated to "smart" electrical grids, solar power, and wind power.
