Siew Meets Blinken at APEC

Former Vice President Vincent Siew was the APEC representative this year, and attended the APEC Leaders meeting on behalf of President Ma in the Philippines.  During his visit, he spoke on a panel at the APEC CEO Forum and met with various APEC leaders and officials, including Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Former Vice President Siew conveyed Taiwan's strong interest in joining the second round the of Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) membership, and also shared how both the current administration and the presidential candidates of next year's elections were all in favor of Taiwan partaking in such a high level free trade agreement.  Deputy Secretary Blinken expressed appreciation towards  President Ma's efforts in maintaining peaceful cross-Strait relations, and supported continuous trade and economic cooperation between the United States and Taiwan.
